does anyone have headaches EVERY day even on meds??

Posted in Group:

I have been on meds for years, and get treatment and ongoing care, and yet I have headaches all the time. If I miss even a day of my meds I have a migraine. Ive been to the er so many times after they last for several days and I start to get confused etc. It was at the er for a migraine I found out I was pregant with my son! Hes 9 months old now, and sometimes its really hard to care for him when I just want to hide in a dark room. Anyone try anything that really works???

I go to sleep sometimes with a migraine and then wake up with one which makes it impossible to even turn my head. Though I don't hide in a dark room, I often just take 2 Excedrin Migraine and 2 Tylenol and drink plenty of ice cold water and munch on the ice after the water is gone for a good couple of hours. . .this is usually because I am over heating and just need to cool off.

If that don't work then I jump into the shower to take a cold bath and let the water run down my body. Then I sit in front of the fan with my ice and usually an Ice pack for my head until I feel cooler.

I know it hard to do with a child in the house and all but I hope you somehow find relief without taking so much medication on a daily basis, let me know how things go for you!!

I dont have any problem taking medication, or so much or anything. I take meds for many things and I am not one to deny their value or wish to be med free or anything. Im one of those people that beleive thats a great blessing of the modern world, better living through science and all that!! There is no over the counter medicine that works for my headaches, even "regular" headaches. I also am extremely intolerant of cold, so that makes thing worse for me unfortunately. I appreciate the advice though!! Sleep helps some, darkness and quiet helps some, but it doesn't go away, just feels better for a while. Aint life grand? :)

I don't mind the medication either, just sometimes having to take so much feels intolerable and I have had some people pester me about why I take them when it doesn't seem to work or it is just a form of water pills.

For me things have been hard but then again what isn't hard to deal with!! Hope you can find some kind of medication that will work. I once took ultram prescription for migraines.

I have daily migraines too. While I've never gotten to the point of going to the ER, I do get to the point where I can barely move because of it. I feel like I'm moving in sludge and if I move any quicker my head will explode. Any suggestions so that I can avoid the ER?

Yes I've experienced this a lot I've had the same migraine over more like severe migraines everyday when I wake up to when I go to sleep. I take all my meds and it almost seems like they don't work. I've been hospitalized several times because they get so bad. So I totally get how you feel! The doctors dont even know what to do with me. I've seen about 3 different neurologists but none no how to help now. Hope things get better!
