I need help

Posted in Group:

Hi I'm 17 years old and have been getting migraines for the past 2 years. Ive been stuck with this migraine for almost 2 months, I wake up with it and fall asleep with it. My problem is my body doesn't respond to medication that stops the migraine once it's there, I've tried almost 12 different medications and nothing works. I've been hospitalized 3 times for them but I get discharged and the next day it's back again. I've been to several naurolgist and they all have been stumped. I know caffeine is a way to ease a migraine but I have heart conditions (MVP&rapid heart rate) so I can't take anything with caffeine in it. Its very difficult to treat my migraines because my body doesn't respond to the meds. I'm also on preventives but my body has almost built up a tolerance to them and now fail to work, and they have messed with those meds trying to help my migraines. I've had all the test ran and everything is clear. Almost all of my migraines are very severe, a long with all the lovely side effects to go with a couple tumes ive had a fever with the migraine has anyone experienced that? most the time I'm always in a dark room can't function at all. Migraines have really slowed my life down, school, social life, driving, getting a job and so on. When I went to public school I missed so many days I was forced to leave public and go into home school which I still have trouble with because the migraine is always there and I can't function with it, and it is my senior year and I have to miss all those fun things you do as a senior. Migraines feel like they took over my life. No one really understand how a migraine really feels nor understand how they keep me back from doing all the normal things. I was hoping coming on here with people who understand the difficulty and maybe even get some advice.

Talk to your parents about trying to research the natural treatments, like chiropractic one or acupuncture. Wishing you health and happiness. God bless you.

Thank you! Ive been researching natural ways myself! I have an appointment in march at a migraine center hoping they might know what to do. I will defiantly look into chiropractic and or acupuncture in the mean time i have 6 weeks to wait till my appointment hopefully natural ways have some effect on it, id rather natural then being on so many medications. Thank you very much!

I've had chronic migraines for about three years, now. I take Imitrex, but it only works sometimes. I know I probably sound like a broken record of all the advice you've ever received, but once mine began to interfere with my life I took actions like getting exactly 8 hours of sleep every night (no less, and certainly no MORE-- Oversleeping gives me migraines often), drinking water until my urine is clear, cutting out a lot of sugar and carbs from my diet, exercising, limiting my time in front of screens, and also taking time to do something relaxing every day (I do yoga, meditation, or just an hour or so of quiet time to read or day dream). I hope this advice helps, even a little bit.
